Joscelyne speaks at World Electronics Forum

The 13th annual World Electronics Forum took place in Tel Aviv, Israel from November 4 to November 8, 2007.  The Israeli Association of Electronics and Software Industries (IAESI), the association for the Israeli information, communications technologies (ICT), software and electronics industry, served as host.  40 CEOs and Directors from more than 16 economies, representing five continents, attended the 2007 WEF.

The meeting provided timely and informative updates on the state of the global electronics industry; matters concerning the environment at all stages of the electronics life-cycle; the future of telecommunications; the state of automotive telematics; a broader examination of the role of the ICT and Electronics Associations in our present high tech era (including reports on specific national markets and unique services provided by associations); and information on the Israeli high tech industry.  Major themes and objectives from this session included a reaffirmation of our commitment to green technology and the larger role of the ICT and electronics association in this high tech era.

Australian delegate to WEF, Chris Joscelyne, a Director of AEEMA and founder of Australian Projects Pty Limited, presented a paper on IT security and the challenges that face the electronics industry.

Joscelyne highlighted the fact that boundaries between personal and business computing have become difficult to define and everyone and everything is becoming linked. Joscelyne said: “In order to survive, enterprises must manage the new risks this environment creates.”

Joscelyne stated: “Overall responsibility for IT security has shifted from the IT department to the boardroom because there is acceptance at boardroom level that protection of information assets is a corporate responsibility, not just a “housekeeping” task of the IT department.”

The World Electronics Forum (WEF) is a voluntary gathering of CEOs and Directors of electronics industry associations worldwide.  Founded in 1995, WEF meets annually to discuss major topics of common interest to the various associations, exchange information on services and data and strengthen relations between associations for the benefit and service of electronics industries.
